This project saw the complete renovation of a large detached home on the southwest edge of Guisborough, turning it into a dream residence with a modern, refreshed aesthetic. Located in a diverse cul-de-sac with various house styles and materials, the setting allowed us to creatively push boundaries, enhancing the property’s charm while securing planning permissions.

This project saw the complete renovation of a large detached home on the southwest edge of Guisborough, turning it into a dream residence with a modern, refreshed aesthetic. Located in a diverse cul-de-sac with various house styles and materials, the setting allowed us to creatively push boundaries, enhancing the property’s charm while securing planning permissions.

The client envisioned a complete transformation, including a front porch, a single-storey rear extension with a balcony above, an external covered patio, and updated cladding and windows for all elevations. While the Local Planning Authority (LPA) was generally supportive, revisions were required to achieve the necessary approvals.

Working collaboratively with the LPA, we refined our designs to meet all regulatory requirements without compromising on the client’s vision. The proposed additions of roof lights, modern cladding, and a balanced mix of open and covered spaces updated the home’s character while ensuring it harmonised with its surroundings.

With planning permission secured, the renovation moved forward smoothly, ultimately creating an inviting, contemporary home that stands out in its unique neighbourhood. The finished property combines a cohesive design with versatile spaces, allowing the family to enjoy both indoor and outdoor areas to the fullest.

This project exemplifies how careful planning and open collaboration with local authorities can turn a client’s dream into reality. By balancing bold design choices with regulatory considerations, we delivered a home that is both striking and seamlessly integrated within its Guisborough setting.
