Because it sat on a Green Belt we were faced with many planning objections from neighbouring properties and conservationists prior to the Build. However, in the end these were overcome. It meant the exterior of the building had to be sympathetic to the surrounding properties. We achieved this by deploying identical cladding to the exterior – in the form of wood panelling and cement.
A large gable end extension also consisted of a wall of two storey glass panelling to allow plenty of natural daylight and to add to the feeling of space in the main living area. The kitchen was divided from the rest of the room by means of an island with hob. This allowed those cooking to join in with family chat in the rest of the space and not feel excluded. The white units and long subway tiles added to the ‘light, contemporary’ design of the entire Build.
