Cartmel Road

The owners of 11 Cartmel Road were looking for more light and space in their home. So, we achieved this by building a large, single storey gable end extension to their property – the entire end side of which comprised solely of glass in a black painted steel frame. The extension itself was comprised of brick, a cavity wall and supporting steelwork for the roof.

Nestled within the confines of a terraced house with a modest back garden, the challenge was clear: how to expand living space without compromising on the charm and intimacy of the existing structure. Our task was to design an extension that seamlessly integrated with the property’s footprint while introducing a modern open-plan kitchen and dining area flooded with natural light.

Drawing upon our expertise in architectural innovation, we conceived a design that extends the property at the rear, adding a distinctive gable roof to create a spacious open-plan environment. Floor-to-ceiling glazing and sleek rooflights serve as conduits for natural light, infusing the interior with warmth and vitality. This thoughtful blend of form and function ensures that the extension not only expands living space but also enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the home.
