Aroma Restaurant & Bar
We were asked to build a structure for Aroma – a popular Italian restaurant in Middlesborough’s Southfield Road – that would allow more diners to access the premises. This was in 2020, during the height of the pandemic when social distancing (staying two metre’s apart) was at its height. The close proximity of tables indoors meant it was impossible for the restaurant to serve the same covers as before.
With a vision to expand their business and elevate the shopping experience for their customers, the client approached us with big ambitions. Our challenge was clear: to design a space that would draw more visitors, both indoors and outdoors, while retaining the charm and warmth that makes Windlebridge a cherished destination.
Drawing upon our expertise and creativity, we crafted a design that seamlessly integrates modern retail areas with the rustic beauty of the existing landscape. Key features of the transformation include a steel-framed extension to replace old storage buildings, a new florist shop at the front section, and a striking cantilevered roof with tall pillars – adding both functionality and architectural intrigue. Large open windows flood the space with natural light, while gentle-coloured cladding and neutral render create an inviting atmosphere that beckons visitors to explore.
As construction begins, anticipation builds for the unveiling of Windlebridge’s new look. With improved parking facilities and toilets, the garden centre is poised to welcome more visitors than ever before. We’re proud to be a part of this journey, knowing that our design will not only enhance the customer experience but also create new job opportunities and contribute to the thriving local economy.
